Abels Moving Services have been made aware that the Port of Grangemouth in Scotland as of the 15th March 2016 is effected by a 2 week strike.
Workers at the Port of Grangemouth have undertaken strike action over changes in the night shifts and compulsory weekend shifts.
The industrial action will last up to two weeks starting on Tuesday 15th March.
Forth Ports insist that the changes to working patterns are needed in order to meet customer needs, as most vessels call at the port at weekends.
Handling 150,000 containers each year, the two week walk out could impact 5,770 containers, that are moved via the Port of Grangemouth.
Grangemouth is one of the UK’s country’s biggest ports and closing it for two weeks would mean all Scotland’s imports and exports having to go in and out from other ports in the UK.
Forth Ports announced that there will be no shipside activity within the container terminal. However, the port will be maintaining landside operations allowing containers currently within the terminal to be picked up.
The industrial action will not affect general cargo, liquid cargo and warehousing.
