For customers planning on moving to Chile, Abels Moving Services have been provided with updated information from our agents in connection with a further 3 day Government Employees Labour and Office Strike. The strike began on the 25th November 2013.
The government employee union has called for another three day strike beginning on Monday, Nov. 25, 2013 in all commercial Chilean ports. The strike is anticipated to continue until end of day on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013.
Previously Government employees of Chile had a 48 hour labour and office strike which began on Wednesday, Nov. 13. Custom officers and others in government institutions were unavailable during these times as back office functions, national social services, government health offices and agencies will be closed.
Import and export shipping services will suffer loading, inspection, and vessel servicing delays. These delays will result in increasing operation costs due to storage and penalties.
