Update – European Customs Advanced Manifest Rule
Shipping to Europe – advanced manifest ruling implemented
Effective from 1 July 2011, the European Customs Advanced Manifest rules will be strictly enforced and failure to comply with the same may lead to penalties and / or fines.
As agreed by the European Union Commission and its member states, the rule that was implemented from 1 January 2011 is under a mandatory monitoring period until 30 June 2011 (during this period shut out and fines were not levied).
Under this rule, goods entering the customs territory of the European Union must be declared electronically before arrival by the carrier and within the timelines established by the European Customs authorities.
We would like to emphasise the importance of submitting the requested information of your shipping lines, in accordance with the deadlines established as the information is submitted to the EU member states’ customs offices.
Failure to submit the shipping instructions in time will normally lead to the cargo not being loaded. For short sea shipments, cargo arriving at EU ports without timely lodged information could prevent cargo from being accepted for discharge or put on hold at EU entry port, fines and/or penalties could as well be imposed by customs.
It is also very important that you provide accurate and complete data in accordance with EU Regulation requirements.

** You must advise your shipping line these details when submitting your Bill of Lading / Waybill / Air Waybill instructions to permit the shipment entering UK – European ports.
