For over 60 years, Abels has managed business relocation for organisations across London and the UK, whether that’s one location or several sites across the city or the country, with the discretion, security and efficient handling that blue-chip clients expect. Every business relocation is different, so we build tailored solutions around your working hours and your deadlines, not the other way round, so you can focus on running the business rather than managing the move.

We also hold a Royal Warrant, a distinction no other major UK removal company holds, but the standard we hold ourselves to on every business move comes from our team’s expertise and our process.

Our Business Relocation Services Include

Every business relocation starts with a survey, so we can scope exactly which relocation services and equipment requirements your move needs. From there, our business relocation services cover:

  • A dedicated move manager as your single point of contact throughout
  • Desktop and server relocation, including decommissioning and recommissioning IT equipment
  • Professional packing services for confidential files, IT equipment and general office contents
  • A full equipment and furniture audit, with a photographic inventory, and advice on space planning for your new location
  • Specialist handling for fragile, confidential and high-value items
  • Secure storage solutions for furniture, archives, stock and equipment
  • Specialist warehouse and facility equipment relocation
  • Clearance and recycling: unwanted furniture reused, secure IT disposal, confidential records destruction, and donation arranged where possible

Move Management: One Team, One Point of Contact

Few business relocations are only about removals. There’s furniture to dismantle and rebuild, IT to migrate, storage to arrange for whatever the new environment can’t yet hold, and redundant equipment to clear responsibly. A dedicated move manager oversees every aspect of the move, from initial planning through to sign-off, holding to the schedule and budget agreed at survey, bringing in the right team for every stage, working closely with your own teams throughout, and keeping clear communication running so nothing falls between suppliers. Problem-solving on the day is part of the job, not an exception, and the whole process runs efficiently as a result.

Our support doesn’t stop when the last box is placed. Post-move support includes a check-in call after moving day, so any snagging gets picked up while it’s still easy to fix and your team gets ongoing support settling in.

Moving Home Made Easy: Your Step-by-Step Guide by Abels

Business Continuity, With Minimal Disruption

From law firms and schools to logistics hubs, every business relocation has to work around what the business can’t pause: sensitive data, fixed deadlines, and the need to keep trading. A smaller office often moves across a single weekend, so employees return to a working space on Monday. Larger or multi-site moves run in phases instead, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations and business activities while part of the business stays open throughout the whole move, well organised from the first day of planning to the last box. Office moves of any size follow the same approach: IT migrates to an agreed timetable, with every workstation checked before staff sit down to it, keeping the transition as hassle-free as possible and the handover as close to a seamless transition as a live business can expect. The aim throughout is minimal disruption and minimal downtime to your trading day. On larger moves, it also helps to name someone on your side as the internal point of contact, so timeline updates reach your team early, and questions come back to one person rather than several.

If disruption strikes rather than being planned, fire, flood or similar, our disaster recovery team can arrange a fast-turnaround relocation to get you trading again.

A Fully Trained Team for Your New Location

Getting your new premises ready is as much a part of the business relocation as leaving the old one. Our fully trained team protects both ends of the job, from floor and doorway coverings on the day to the final placement of furniture and equipment where you need it, making the transition to your new environment straightforward rather than still being unpacked around your staff. Moving internationally as well? Our international removals service extends the same commercial and FF&E logistics overseas.

Business Relocation Accreditations, Independently Audited

Abels holds current membership of the British Association of Removers (BAR, membership A001) and follows BAR’s Code of Practice, along with the BAR Advance Payment Guarantee scheme, which protects your move financially if a mover ceases trading. We’re also FIDI-certified to FAIM Plus standard and hold ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and 27001 certification, covering quality, environmental management, health and safety, and information security. For FF&E and interior logistics work, we’re also an Industry Partner of the British Institute of Interior Design (BIID).

For cover during your move, we offer MoveProtect, a modern alternative to traditional transit insurance, so your equipment and assets are looked after throughout. Whoever you move with, it’s worth confirming any commercial mover is fully insured and accredited before you book.

Common Questions

What does business relocation cost?

Cost reflects the volume of furniture and equipment, the distance, access at each building, whether IT and specialist items are involved, and whether the work runs in normal hours or out of them. We provide an itemised quotation after a survey rather than a fixed price list, so you see the real cost of your business relocation rather than a generic estimate. It’s also worth building in a contingency of around 10 to 15 percent on top of your budget for unexpected costs, alongside whatever your itemised quotation covers.

How long does a business relocation take?

It depends on the size of the move. A smaller office can often move across a single weekend. Larger or multi-site relocations are phased over a longer period, and generally benefit from 6 to 12 months of planning lead time so there’s room to coordinate suppliers, IT and staff communication well ahead of moving day. Your move manager sets a realistic timeline once the survey’s done.

How do you keep business downtime to a minimum?

By planning around it from the start: phasing larger moves, working off-hours or weekends where that helps, and migrating IT to an agreed timetable so operations and every workstation are checked before your team sits down to it.

Do you handle IT migration and reconnection?

Yes. Desktop and server relocation, including decommissioning and recommissioning workstations and hardware, is coordinated efficiently with your own IT team, provider or facilities team so systems are ready when staff arrive.

Can you store our furniture and equipment during the move?

Yes. Our business storage holds office furniture, archives, stock and equipment for as long as you need, with a recorded inventory and deliveries staged to suit your move.

Do you handle warehouse and specialist equipment relocation?

Yes. Alongside standard office removals, we relocate warehouse and facility equipment, with the same survey-first approach to plan access, handling and timing.

What happens if we need an emergency relocation after a fire or flood?

Our disaster recovery team can arrange a fast-turnaround relocation to get your business trading again, working around whatever the situation allows.

Are you insured and accredited for business relocation?

We hold MoveProtect cover for every commercial project, and our accreditations include a Royal Warrant, BAR membership (A001), FIDI FAIM Plus certification, and ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and 27001. Every accreditation is independently audited rather than self-assessed.
